Apparently DerHahn is not aware that the refineries in Texas anywhere near the terminal points of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline are at 85% capacity and cannot take on the additional oil. As it happens, the two terminal points are ports that can easily handle exporting the oil. The Keystone pipeline is not desired by the Canadian company so the US will buy and use the oil, but so they can export it. No US company will benefit from it. Doing this is far cheaper than getting the oil across the mountains to the Canadian Pacific coast.

this is why the oil companies want the xl pipeline going to the gulf refineries. so it can be refined and exported to higher paying markets taking away from the supply here.
